Global Flow Images [General]

Here is a group of images designed by Thom Griffiths, who is my co-worker of the isp website. I put them together in a flash movie. They are just fabulous.

Stomach Flu [General]

I stayed in the hospital for the whole afternoon and took the IV.

It started from last night. After the dinner I felt very uncomfortable but it's not bad at all. I still went to the gym and played the squash. However when I got back home, it's getting worse and worse and I started to puke. Basically I could not drink and eat anything. This morning when I got up, I was so weak. I walked to the health service center. They told me that I should take IV otherwise I could be dehydrated.

I felt a lot better after 4000cc liquid injected into my body. Thanks for Hui and her beautiful flower, which made me feel like a hero in the hospital.

Random Thoughts [Thoughtful]

This is already the third week of the new semester. Everything gets started. What I am feeling about the life is a little bit different. Most likely it is because of the graduation - you are facing the choices. But it is more accurate to say that the future is unpredictable. I will have a job interview very soon. It sounds pretty cool.

Several other cool things are happening. I am working on a flash movie showing some of my pictures. It will be presented on Februray 14th at the New Haven Camera Club. It is a movie with both narration and the background music. It will be very cool.

I will go the Boston Sea Rover in March - that's really a cool program. Most likely I will have a diving trip in coming July in both North and South Carolina. It will be very cool.

p.s. I am working for the Yale's International Society Projects. People like to talk about work but not money. I think I am right to get paid. Should I feel shame to ask for money? - nay....

NHCC Competition [Photography]

NHCC competition
Tonight is the New Haven Camera Club competition. There are not too many "good" shots that I have at this moment. As you know, if you want to show other people something good, you need to feel from heart that it's really good. I picked the swan I took last year and got the first prize. As to the yak one, I really like it. I got an honorable mention for that.

Well it's good to see the people in the club again after the long time. I also signed up the program of the next meet, which is to talk about the good places to take pictures.

p.s. I dropped the master diving course. The reason is that I want to save some time and money for something else. As to the diving, I think I need to focus more on the photography part instead of the diving techniques.

Some Winter Shots [Photography]

Copyright Weiwei
The early morning of today was very cold. The temperature stayed at 4F. It was even worse that the feels-like temperature was only -7F. However, this was the first time that I had a chance to go out to take some pictures since I came back from China.

There was a large group of Canada goose staying around the Miller river. I watched them for a while. In fact they had several smaller groups, which just happened to stay at the same place. The reason I could tell this was that they took off group by group. It's very interesting.

The swans were more beautiful, especially with the snow as the background. However, I did not stay too long because it started to snow and it's getting very cold.

As for taking pictures, it's not very comfortible because of the terribly cold temperature. Plus with the very low temperature, the battery runs out very quickly. This might be the good experience for the future.

Boston Sea Rovers - the 51st Clinic   ]

Poster of Boston Sea Rover

The 51st Boston Sea Rover (BSR) Clinic will held on March 5~6, 2005. I joined the 50th clinic last year and I strongly recommend for the following reasons:

1. Eventhough it's a program of diving industry, yet most of the seminars are not about diving techniques. Most of the topics will be about exploration underwater world.

2. You will meet the world leading scientists and photographers and ofcourse their breath-taking works. And it's all about fun.

Please check out the website at http://www.bostonsearovers.com/ and please let me know if you want to go!

Webjounal Layout Update [General]

I spent sometime today to update the layout of my webjournal. Currently it looks almost the same as before. But I cleaned up all the abundant tags. And the most important made it right in the Netscape Navigator. I will keep an eye on it constantly to see if there is anything that I can improve.

I am now doing better to handle the compatibility of the browsers, which also means that I have a lot to do to correct current pages on the site. But any way, I think the whole site is constantly improving.

It's Terribly Cold! [General]

Coldest Day of the Season

The day time temperature hit 6F today, which is about -20C degree. It's very hard to walk outside. Most of time people used to avoid the extreme heat wave. Extreme cold is also dangerous. It is the lowest temperature of this season. Even though it's still not as cold as last year's record, I hope it will not go any lower.

I spent most of time in front of my computer. I have finished writing the resume and constantly feel excited that I am going to find a job - the feeling of grwoth or just the feeling of getting old...Also I am still working on the pictures of the trip to China. There is still a lot to do.

Weekend Updates [General]

With Yueyue at HHH

This picture is taken in the lobby of Helen Hadley Hall. Yueyue is leaving to China for a new job. This is a suprising news because she terminated her PhD study in half way. Most people think this is a brave and smart behavior. You will realize what a big improvement has been made to the working enviroment in China.

We watched "House of Flying Daggers" at Shuang's house. The newly decorated house is really wonderful. It's until 3am in the morning that we left. I spent most of the time on Saturday on the bed. So the jet leg is even more serious...hehe..

I started writing the resume. Still don't feel very clear about the future.

Getting Back to the Busy Life [General]

Robert M. Langer Graduate Student SymposiumI am trying to keep me wake up during the day time so I can overcome the jetleg faster. Now it's getting better. But I still feel a little bit strange maybe because the life shifted too fast from home to school.

I will graduate sometime this year. So finding a job is the most important task at this time. After several years quiet life in New Haven, I have to consider again what I should do next. The study and the current research is not as exciting as the beginning period. I find this happens to most of the PhDs in their final stage. So 5 year study might be too long.

I shot lots of pictures during the trip at home. Since the time with my parents is too valuable for me, I did not process any of them when I was at home. It would take a significant mount of time to do that. Probably you may not see it until early next month. I will try to do it fast.

I Came Back [General]

Hi, I came back to New Haven, sitting back on my desk! The direct flight makes people feel the trip is so short. I left Kunming on Sunday noon and arrrived in JFK on Monday noon. So all my thoughts are still staying on the streets in Kunming - something that had happened but I am not quite sure!

I shot lots of pictures and I will put them on the travel photography. I can not finish it right away. I will work on it soon!

I do need to go back to my nornmal life!
